France, 1770. A painter is sent to an isolated island to capture the likeness of a reluctant bride. HΓ©loΓ―se wonβt pose, so Marianne is hired to act as her companion by day and paint her from memory by night. What begins as a hidden assignment becomes an intense study of glances and stolen moments, as the artist finds herself captivated by the woman she is meant to document.
