🎦DETAILS:

Lost In Frenchlation is proud to present « Portrait de la Jeune Fille en Feu » with English subtitles, not just one of the best films of the year but also one of the best films of the decade. A female portrait painter falls in love with her subject in Girlhood director Céline Sciamma’s perfect new film. The screening will be followed by a Q&A with the main actress!

🎥THE MOVIE:

Brittany, France, 1760. Marianne, a painter, is commissioned to do the wedding portrait of Héloïse, a young lady who has just left the convent. Héloïse is a reluctant bride to be and Marianne must paint her without her knowing. She observes her by day and secretly paints her at night. Intimacy and attraction grow between the two women as they share Héloïse’s first and last moments of freedom, all whilst Marianne paints the portrait that will end it all. – Plot

“A Masterpiece. A devastatingly unforgettable story of love and memory. As perfect a film as any to have premiered this year.“
IndieWire – David Ehrlich

•☆OPTIONAL EIFFEL TOWER MOVIE TOUR:☆

Lost in Frenchlation and Ciné-Balade have teamed up to bring you a two hour walk into the history of cinema around the Eiffel Tower, the star among the stars, and the district of Passy. Many international movies were shot here including “Mission Impossible” this year, not far from the location of “Inception” with Leonardo DiCaprio. You will learn about the beginning of cinema invented by the Lumière Brothers and how it is linked to the Eiffel Tower and the World’s Fair. We will also talk about French movies like “The Last Metro” by François Truffaut or “Peur sur la Ville” with Jean-Paul Belmondo. The story of these famous places and what filmmakers are looking for when they use them will be our main thread. The walk starts at 5pm and lasts for approximately 2 hours.

“Portrait of a Lady on Fire” won the Queer Palm prize and was awarded Best Screenplay at the Cannes Film Festival. Don’t miss your chance to meet the actress!
