🎦DETAILS:

Did you know that about half of all French speakers live in Africa? Join us on March 20th, international francophonie day, to celebrate the French language and Francophone culture. Adapted from the novel Small Country by French singer Gaël Faye, the film plunges us into the heart of Burundi in 1992 as the tragedy of the Rwandan civil war comes to light.

🎥THE MOVIE:

Gabriel, aged 10, lives in a comfortable ex-pat neighborhood in Burundi, his “small country”. Gabriel is a normal kid, happy, carefree and having adventures with his friends and little sister. Then in 1993 tensions in neighboring Rwanda spill over, threatening his family and his innocence. – Plot

•THE PLAN:

The screening will take place at Club de l’Étoile cinema, located a short walk from the world-famous Arc de Triomphe! We will be offering a variety of French-inspired drinks and popcorn during our cocktail hour from 7pm. At 8pm, the screening begins! Tickets available both online and at the cinema.

☆OPTIONAL EIFFEL TOWER MOVIE TOUR:☆

Lost in Frenchlation and Ciné-Balade have teamed up to bring you a two hour walk into the history of cinema around the Eiffel Tower, the star among the stars, and the district of Passy. Many international movies were shot here including “Mission Impossible” this year, not far from the location of “Inception” with Leonardo DiCaprio. You will learn about the beginning of cinema invented by the Lumière Brothers and how it is linked to the Eiffel Tower and the World’s Fair. We will also talk about French movies like “The Last Metro” by François Truffaut or “Peur sur la Ville” with Jean-Paul Belmondo. The story of these famous places and what filmmakers are looking for when they use them will be our main thread. The walk starts at 5pm and lasts for approximately 2 hours: https://www.weezevent.com/lost-in-frenchlation-x-cine-balade-present-eiffel-tower-movie-tour-7
