One summer evening, Suzanne, accompanied by her two young children, pays an unannounced visit to her sister Jeanne. Jeanne is caught off guard. Not only have they not seen each other for several months, but above all Suzanne seems somehow absent from herself.

Upon waking, Jeanne is stunned to discover the note her sister has left behind. Shock gives way to anger when, at the gendarmerie, Jeanne learns that no search procedure can be launched: Suzanne has made the reckless choice to disappear…
