📽DETAILS:
Â
Lead Actress Noemie Merlant AND director Nathan Ambrosioni will join us at Luminor this Thursday for a Q&A session following the showing of their film “Les Drapeaux de Papier”. Directed at only 18 years old, this dramatic and touching film explores the rocky relationship between two siblings and an ex-con’s adjustment to life after prison.
Â
🎥THE MOVIE:
Â
Charlie, soon to be 24 years old, leads a life without excess: she is an artist, and a dreamer, and is struggling to make ends meet. When her brother comes to find her after twelve years of absence, her life is shaken up. Vincent is 30 years old and has just come out of prison where he has served a long sentence. He has everything to learn in a world he does not know anymore, but Charlie is ready to help him. It is her brother after all, but his anger has potential to become uncontrollable and destroy everything in spite of himself. – Plot
Â
Gestures, faces, hands in the light, shadows on the walls, small symbolic objects: the director (who edited the film himself) has an innate sense of image, which allows him to tackle a very harsh human topic in a relatively delicate manner, directing a first feature film with promising realism and surprising maturity for such a young filmmaker. – CineEuropa
Â
Very attentive to his intrigue, to the rhythm of subtle development, and empathic towards his characters, with a demanding mise en images, “Les Drapeaux de Papier” is a magnificent success. – Culturebox
