Have you ever wondered how France’s very first restaurant came about?
Now the answer is here: “Delicieux” by Eric Besnard tells the unusual story of a chef who – on a hunt for revenge – ends up opening France’s first restaurant. A great historical drama, spiced with intrigues, topped with humor, and with romance for dessert.
In France, 1789, just before the revolution, gastronomy is still a prerogative of the aristocrats. When talented cooker Manceron is dismissed by the Duke of Chamfort, he loses the taste for cooking. Until he meets the mysterious Louise. Together they want revenge against the duke, and this results in them opening France’s very first restaurant. – synopsis
“Delicieux” is wonderfully satisfying to watch.” – Fiction Machine
“Delicious is as good as its title’s promise: leaving aside the exquisite cinematography of haute cuisine, the movie is filled with dangers overt and covert, tensions sexual and political, swift turns of events, and humour.” – BMA Magazine
