Philippe Abrams, a post office manager from southern France, is unexpectedly transferred to a small town in the north after trying to secure a move to the French Riviera.
Expecting a cold and miserable place, he instead discovers a warm and welcoming community. But back home, he allows his wife to believe that life in the north is terrible, trapping himself in an increasingly complicated lie.
