The extraordinary life of Jeanne Lavaur is a story all her own. Spanning the twentieth century, she defies her destiny, from her childhood in her parents’ butcher’s shop to her dream of becoming a countess. From one war to the next, from Paris in the Roaring Twenties to Brazil, her path crosses that of History itself and embraces the world, alongside Guillaume de Barante and the intrepid Céleste.
