Released after 19 years in prison for stealing a loaf of bread, Jean Valjean decides to turn his life around and do good. Under a false identity, he gradually becomes a respected member of the community. Coming to the aid of Fantine, a dying factory worker, he promises to save her daughter, Cosette, from the clutches of the cruel Thénardiers. But his past catches up with him: Inspector Javert, a relentless policeman with his own troubled past, relentlessly pursues him to send him back to prison. In Paris in the midst of the revolution, Valjean must fight to protect Cosette and achieve his redemption, navigating between sacrifice and the pursuit of justice.
