Lost in Frenchlation is kicking off the new year with a screening back in Montmartre! In PUPILLE (or ‘ward of the state’ in French), the producers of SINK OR SWIM bring together an all-star French cast in this poignant and heartwarming film about the intertwined fates of an abandoned baby in need of a home and a woman’s everlasting wish to become a mother.

Theo is a newborn – under French law, his birth mother has the right to give the State jurisdiction over Theo’s future. The mother has 60 days to reflect on her decision and reverse it, or not. One government agency takes care of such babies during the period of uncertainty, another springs into action to place the child with appropriate adoption parents. The process is gut-wrenching and fraught with complications. PUPILLE is the story of “Theo meets Alice” (Élodie Bouchez), a 41-year old who has fought for 10 years to adopt a child. – Synopsis

« Intelligently observed and backed by a strong cast. » – Hollywood Reporter

The screening will take place at cinéma Studio 28 (the oldest cinema in Paris!), located in the beautiful area of Montmartre. We’ll be hosting cocktail hour with snacks (home-made cocktail €4.50, or €6.00 with a packet of popcorn) at 8pm. At 9pm, the screening begins! Tickets available at the door only – please arrive early to avoid disappointment.

Lost in Frenchlation and Ciné-Balade have teamed up to bring you a walk through cinema history in Montmartre, from Saint-Vincent Street to the Basilica of the Sacred Heart. You will discover one of the most filmed districts of Paris where each director drew on the story of the hill and its artists. Amelie from Montmartre will be our common thread with other famous French or American movies as An American in Paris, A Monster in Paris, Woody Allen’s films… The walk starts at 6pm and lasts for approximately 2 hours. ☞ TICKETS:

Director Jeanne Herry creates a stunningly-acted saga of great sensitivity, an emotional rollercoaster. Gilles Lellouche is remarkable in an atypical role! Not to be missed…
