DETAILS:

Fresh from its premiere at the 2017 Cannes Film Festival, Lost in Frenchlation is brining you ‘Ôtez-moi d’un doute’ (‘Just to be Sure’) with English subtitles on Friday 22nd September! Don’t miss this “intelligent and rather artful French comedy” to start your weekend with a laugh. Drinks from 8pm; screening at 9pm.

‘Handsomely shot by Pierre Cottereau and with a lively score by Eric Slabiak, Just to Be Sure is the kind of intelligent and rather artful French comedy that doesn’t come around so often nowadays. Tardieu juggles lots of heavy issues with a supremely light touch, making us laugh about what would normally be a series of tragic events, underlining how much our parents — biological, adoptive or otherwise — can both make us and break us.’

‘When 45 year old widower Erwan discovers by accident that the man who raised him isn’t his real dad, he begins a search for his biological father. He soon locates the mischievous, 70 something Joseph, whom his mother knew briefly. Erwan falls not only for his charm, but that of the impetuous Anna, who has ties to them both. The conflicting familial loyalties soon become compounded by the pregnancy of his own daughter Juliette, who defiantly refuses to name the father.’
