Ever wondered what it’s like to be behind bars? How about if you had done nothing wrong? Based at the infamous Fleury-Mérogis prison just outside of Paris, ‘De sas en sas’ follows the journey of female visitors who end up experiencing more than they bargained for on a routine visit. Drinks from 8pm; screening with English subtitles at 9pm!

Trailer with English subtitles:

‘Rachida Brakni makes us travel into a quasi-enclosed world that reveals itself to be cruel, Kafkaesque, and yet completely connected to reality. ‘De Sas en sas’ is first and foremost a story of bodies, beautifully filmed, that refers to the characters’ intimacy as much as the wounded social body which they incarnate.’
– Laurence Reymond

The screening will take place at the amazing Studio 28 in the heart of Montmartre – Paris’ oldest cinema room which is also one of the city’s most iconic. Join us from 8pm for a film-themed cocktail available from the bar (€4.50, or €6.00 with a packet of popcorn) before the screening starts at 9:15pm. Tickets available on the door only – please arrive early to avoid disappointment!

‘Every month, women go to a prison on the outskirts of Paris to visit loved ones: sons, fathers, brothers, partners. In the middle of August, Fatima and her daughter Nora, Judith and Lola, Hourla, her friends and others wait uncomfortably in the sweltering summer heat. Shy or extrovert, accomplices or enemies, all must pass through the many stages that separate them from the visiting room. As they move from security check to security check, relationships are made and broken, tongues loosen, tensions mounts… until finally a riot erupts behind the bars.’
